The Kaizen Culture

I’ve been covering healthcare since 2005. One of the most exciting aspects of the field is learning about medical innovations - from laboratory research, surgical techniques and technological advancements.

But there are many other innovations that excite me. Many of these are so simple that it makes me go ‘how come we never thought of that before’? But we sometimes overlook the most basic of ideas because we are naturally enamoured with the cool, new, fancy kid on the block.

Yishun Health has always struck me as one of the organisations that are unafraid of embracing ‘lo-fi’ interventions for high-gain outcomes. This, I think, stems from a ‘start-up’ mentality built from their early days and has been nurtured through their improvement culture. This series is about how they built their DNA of constant improvement.
